How To Backup Text Messages: One Of The Most Important Things

If you want to back up your text messages, there are a few different ways. The first option is by taking photos and saving them as separate files on an external hard drive or memory card for safekeeping in case something happens with the phone itself (not just SIM cards). You can also save all conversations from one thread into individual folders within another messaging app like WhatsApp so no single conversation gets lost if anything were deleted during the installation process of the new operating system version etc., although this may take more space than necessary given how many people use smartphones nowadays.

There is also a way to save SMS messages directly as text files on the phone itself. This can be done with any smartphone as long as it has some kind of root access, but this particular function will probably not work if you haven’t rooted your device before or tried some other hacks on it so I can’t guarantee that all of you will be able to actually do this and don’t recommend trying it if you’re not familiar with Android system and what gaining root access means (believe me there’s plenty of information online). A few lucky owners of Sony Xperia Z2 , Z3 and Z3 Compact might also be able to use this method under very specific circumstances but since their VoIP apps like Messenger don’t need root permissions it’s unlikely that this will work for them.

How do I backup my text messages on Android?

At the moment my preferred way to backup apps and their data is through Titanium Backup and I’m sure many of you are already using it. To create a backup with this app just open it, go to “Backup” menu item and select all applications that you want to back up (keep in mind that most of them need root access). Once you’ve done that click on the “Run the restore procedure now” button and wait for the process to finish. Note: If your device is not rooted it’s very likely that Titanium won’t be able to gain root access automatically so you’ll have to do this manually by following these steps: switch off your smartphone or tablet completely ( don’t forget to turn off Fastboot as well).

Easy Way

If you want to save all of your text messages for a later time, there is an easy way.

In order to backup the data on any Android device:

  1. Go into settings and then security card slot from there click “apps”
  2. Choose messaging
  3. Tap message history
  4. Find where it says “Backup now” or something similar
  5. Clear that box and tap “backup” or if it’s not available click “save to SD card”
  6. You should now find a folder on your Sd card called “android_metadata” and in that folder will be files like: contacts, call logs, messages and the other stuff we already talked about earlier. When you come to restore those saved text messages, just do exactly as we listed up there; but then instead of choosing backup now you’ll select restore from SDcard.

Don’t use this recovery option unless you have no access to the Android device otherwise the phone will be stuck at boot for ever or at least until someone figures out how to fix it manually.
